The Historical Nutcracker
When the Nutcracker was originally written in the early 19th century, it was performed across Europe in riding halls and coliseums. The Nutcracker tradition continues at Chicago's last riding hall; the Noble Horse Theatre.

Artist's Rendering of 18th Century Riding Hall

We are proud to showcase this historical narrative on horseback in our elaborately restored theatre. This magnificent performance, seen in its original setting, is the only place in North America where the Nutcracker is still done on horseback.

The Noble Horse's historical theatre is a riding hall built in 1872. This historical building was rennovated in early 2001. The facility is climate controlled, handicapped accessible, open year round and is one of Chicago's favorite desinations!

Make the Nutcracker on Horseback a tradition of your own!
